The Cutting Edge

I should be in hospital having my carpal tunnelly hand sorted out but they found they had got their am list muddled up with their pm list, so I have to go back later. Wish they'd found out before I got up at 5am!

Never mind - at least I have time for a two-handed blog before I go.

We've got a give-away on our Workshop on the Web Facebook page. It's one of my inspiration books - remember a few posts ago I had the idea of putting good samples into a 'special' book. Well, this is the first one and I am giving it away. Ain't that noble? Do go and put your name down if you fancy a chance of winning.

This is a detail of the cover. Paint effects and Pearly powders with embossing powder.
.

.
And one of the pages with a slight celtic twist. Hand-stitching - I do enjoy that, but won't be doing much with the hand all bandaged up.
.

.

The pond is nearly finished. Just a little row of bricks to build, new paving and some planting. Smudge took site inspections very seriously.
.

.
So much so that he nearly got drowned when Clive did the trial filling. At one point he was asleep in the bottom.
.

.
All filled now and holding water. Will show the finished version, with droopy plants when I can garden again as all planting is my responsibility.
.

.

Ah well, soon be time to have another go at getting the hand sorted. Think of me.

How infuriating when you were all prepared for your hospital visit. Better luck next time. I bet Smudge was nice and snug down in the pond liner - a good thing Clive noticed him! What a treat your giveaway is for one very lucky person. Off to put my name down, just in case!!

Glad you can still use both hands, and you have a long day to do some lovely things! But I can imagine you weren't quite happy at 5 am.
And I love your work, so I hope to win the giveaway. Will it be lucky me?

Hi Maggie - good luck with your hand and I hope all goes well. I am so relieved it was a pond hole as, from the shape of it, I thought Clive had been grave-digging! Your cat is such a character. Gill

Good luck with the operation Maggie, might be an opportunity to enjoy some reading if you can't stitch for a little while.
Cheers

Gorgeous and covetable - both the lovely book and the elegant pond. Looking forward to seeing the pond develop. Our pond is currently obliterated for redevelopment in a new site (to be determined)and I really missed the frogspawn this year. Good luck for a successful op and speedy recovery. Gruesome to have to cope with that pointless early morning and extra time to anticipate... xxx

Hope the op goes well and that you are able to join Smudge in the latest site inspections soon!

I get so nervous about medical things that to have to return due to their error would be terrible. Thinking of you. The book looks yummy.

I hope you've had your surgery by now Maggie and will soon be back in action. That pond needs planting :-)

You should have had your hand surgeery by now, I hope you recover as quickly as I did. It was such a wonderful relief and I was using my hand within a couple of days. You will be planting your pond plants in no time! Cheers.

Good luck Maggie - tried to leave you a message on face book but not working for me today
Maybe you could train Smudge to do the planting.....

That's too bad about the surgery. At least you didn't go to the bottom of a long list. Good luck and just take it easy.

Hope the surgery went well Maggie. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I am sure that the hand will be much improved, and I DO have to say that I love how well Smudge goes with the pool. I did have a Siamese once that swam, voluntarily! You may have built him a new toy...

Best of luck for the procedure Maggie, and the recuperation. You'll need all your reserves of patience - as will Clive!

I hope you're back to full mobility very soon.

I just love the pond. Also the finished lounge room.
By now you will be ready to start work again and hopefully almost with both hands. Keep the exercises up. They are a pain but worth it in the long run.

Disappointed to see that the giveaway is limited to Facebook users. I really hoped when you started using it that those of us without Facebook accounts wouldn't miss out, but unfortunately here we do.
